Senior Director Of Pharmacy Operations TN Corporate Director, Clinical Pharmacy Operations ( Job Number: 090720) Description Job Summary: The Corporate Director of Pharmacy Operations is responsible for all areas of clinical pharmacy operations for all 47 hospitals to include but not be limited to: clinical pharmacy support initiatives that impact drug utilization, clinical education and staff development, management of appropriate medication utilization. General Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for ensuring the development of drug utilization review and other clinical initiatives pertaining to positive outcome and cost savings that impact drug utilization. 2. Ensures the provision of education and support to pharmacy staff with regard to clinical protocol justification, execution, and implementation. Provides education for such initiatives in-person, via Webinar, teleconference or other interpersonal communication. 3. Ensures facilities DOPs are aware of clinical initiatives and clinical cost-savings opportunities. 4. Assists Hospitals Corporate IS to incorporate clinical protocols and other clinical initiatives into the Pharmacy IS System. Assists facility pharmacies, as needed, with the development and maintenance of an approved Formulary. 5. Provides "white papers" and other related documentation to assist with efforts for Formulary inclusion or exclusion. 6. Assists to identify potential cost-savings opportunities via appropriate Formulary management. 7. Monitors and guides the use of the Quantify software system that tracks medication errors, adverse drug reactions and pharmacist interventions. 8. Assists, makes recommendations, develops and implements improved clinical procedures and "best practices" to minimize and prevent future adverse medication events. 9. Presents ADE, ADR, and Intervention Reports to the appropriate Corporate Departments. 10. Facilitates the creation of a Corporate educational program for facility pharmacy staff. 11. Facilitates the medication education needs of other healthcare professionals. 12. Provides guidance and facilitation to local DOPs in the development of a system continuous quality improvement program as related to pharmacy clinical activities. 13. Represents the group interests of facility DOPs with regard to corporate clinical initiatives pertaining to clinical IS, such as CPOE, eMAR, etc. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Education and Special Certifications…) A Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) preferred with a minimum of 5-10 years as a Clinical Pharmacist in a hospital setting. Preferred experience as a clinical coordinator or director in a large, complex, multi-site organization. Maintains an active pharmacy license. Ability to collaborate and work with others as a team to achieve common goals. Thorough knowledge of medications and pharmacy clinical activities is a must. Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital Directors of Pharmacy and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests. Foster a team environment by providing clinical education, support, and training to new pharmacy team members. Ability to manage a diverse workforce. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) to other health care providers, primarily physicians, pharmacists, and nurses. Software skills using MS office, proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel, some knowledge of MS Access. Technologically competent, knowledge of Pharmacy IS systems, automated medication dispensing systems, physician order entry, bar coding applications, and integration into clinical decision making.
