-William E. Cash, Jr.
President and Founder

In today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment, hospitals are challenged with containing escalating pharmacy expenses, recruiting and retaining quality professional staff, and providing the highest level of pharmaceutical care to their patients. Managing all of these functions effectively can prove overwhelming. The solution is Principle Pharmacy Group.

Who We Are
Principle Pharmacy Group focuses on providing superior patient care by providing proven pharmacy management solutions for hospitals and health systems addressing such needs through people, processes and information. This is the "Principle Difference".

People
Principle Pharmacy Group feels its employees are its most important resource. Principle is committed to the recruitment, training and retention of quality individuals. Principle works with its client healthcare systems to create a workplace that fosters quality, innovation, professionalism and self-fulfillment. Here’s what Wayne Thompson, R.Ph., Director of Pharmacy has to say about being part of the Principle Pharmacy team.

"I like being a Director of Pharmacy for Principle Pharmacy Group because it gives me a voice in a variety of the decision making processes in the company. Working for Principle Pharmacy Group has given me an opportunity to enhance my personal growth in the areas of management, clinical pharmacy skills, and interdisciplinary relationships in the hospital environment. I feel that my personal growth has and will continue to contribute to the growth of Principle Pharmacy Group.I feel that I am making a difference."

Processes
Principle Pharmacy Group places a high level of significance on “Process Directed Management.” Our model on improvement is based upon identifying key processes related to the acquisition, storage, delivery and administration of pharmaceuticals within the hospital pharmacy.

Information
Principle Pharmacy Group has developed the management concept of PrincipleMetrics®. This program is based upon identifying key quantitative values that reflect useable information. This information allows managers to better monitor key processes and make according cost and prescribing adjustments. PrincipleMetrics® are used in trend analysis reports within administrative reports.

Our Services
Principle Pharmacy Group provides hospitals and health systems proven solutions to their pharmacy management challenges. The primary issues facing both pharmacy managers and hospital administration include, but are not limited to, the following:

PHARMACEUTICAL CARE. Principle is dedicated to providing the highest quality pharmaceutical care for the patients we serve. Our pharmacists are not bystanders in patient care but actively serve the medical and nursing staff at our hospitals. Principle pharmacists aggressively manage the formulary, serve on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and also perform renal dosing of medications, IV to PO switch programs, nutritional support, including TPN, and pharmacokenetic monitoring of high risk medications. Excellent patient care drives all decisions made in our pharmacies.

PHARMACEUTICAL EXPENSE REDUCTION. Pharmaceutical costs continue to escalate at double-digit rates. New therapies, higher utilization and inflation on existing products all contribute to this trend. Principle utilizes its best practices philosophy, formulary development techniques, and pharmacy data management tools to control costs.

REGULATORY SUPPORT. Pharmacy is one of the most regulated industries in the country. Compliance with legislative and regulatory mandates from the JCAHO, FDA, DEA, and State Boards of Pharmacy are difficult to manage within short-staffed pharmacy departments. Principle uses its corporate approach to regulatory compliance to prepare and maintain its client hospitals with all applicable standards.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT. A cornerstone of Principle's strategy is to implement vigorous data management programs to ensure measurable operating results through the continuous maintenance and improvement of quality initiatives. The company does not take a retrospective approach; instead, it is a concurrent series of measures that are taken to make certain that Principle's standards for best practices are enterprise-wide, and implemented. To this end, Principle has intentionally centralized Clinical and IT/IS oversight functions.
