Epic
has developed a comprehensive benefits program that allows employees
to maintain healthy personal and professional lives.
Health Insurance
Epic offers three low cost, high quality health insurance plans
through Group Health Cooperative, Unity and Dean. You will be covered from
your first day of employment with no pre-existing condition clauses.
Full prescription coverage, vision exams and preventive dental
cleanings are among the extra benefits offered by our health
insurance providers. Epic also offers a separate comprehensive
dental plan with a discount vision option at a low monthly rate.
Epic also offers free on-site flu
vaccinations each year before the onset of the winter flu season. In
addition, discounts at local health clubs are available.
Life/Disability Insurance
You will receive an automatic life insurance policy
in the amount of two times your annual salary with
the option to increase coverage. We also offer
short- and long-term disability insurances.
Vacation/Holiday Pay
Epic provides two weeks of paid vacation in each of
your first two years. You'll receive three weeks of
vacation every year thereafter. Epic employees also
receive six paid full-day holidays and three paid
half-day holidays each year, six paid sick days per
year, and the option of taking unpaid leave.
401(k) Plan
Our 401(k) plan lets you defer income tax on your retirement
savings. You may contribute up to 15% of your income to your choice
of several investment plans. Epic may support your contribution with
a generous match on a percentage of your deferral.
Stock Options
Epic is committed to providing its employees with true ownership of
our company. You become eligible for stock options after one year of
employment. If you invested $1,000 in Epic's stock 10 years ago, it
would be worth $195,111 now. In comparison, the same $1,000 invested
in Microsoft would be worth $94,610 or $38,170 with Intel. While we
hope to enjoy similar returns in the future, there are no
guarantees.
Compensation
Epic salaries are competitive and individualized –
there is no set pay range for any role. Bonuses are
awarded on the basis of individual and company
performance. Epic also has a travel incentive
program, Epic Excursions, which provides extra
compensation to our frequent travelers. You may also
retain any frequent flyer miles earned on business
trips with Epic.
"Flex" Accounts
Epic offers flexible spending accounts that allow you to set aside
pre-tax dollars for medical and childcare expenses, as well as
health, disability and dental insurance premiums. All deductions are
exempt from federal, state and FICA taxes.
Professional Development
Your education doesn't stop when you join Epic. All new employees
take part in our extensive orientation courses, lasting from four to
seven weeks. In addition to publicly posting opportunities for
professional development, we encourage you to keep learning by
contributing towards your tuition and expenses for relevant higher
education coursework. Our library of books and audio/video courses
also serves as a convenient resource for Epic employees.
We also encourage our employees to
seek certification in more than one of our software applications -
those who accomplish this receive bonuses.
Communication
Epic staff members communicate in a work environment with minimal
hierarchy. Company-wide staff meetings are held once a month in a
nearby movie theater with popcorn and soda provided. In addition,
Epic staff is given the opportunity to offer input into our
company's future direction through our annual Strategy Meeting. Our
collegial atmosphere and matrix-based organizational structure
encourage open dialogue and effective teamwork.
Personal Computers
Epic provides each employee with a state-of-the-art
personal computer. In addition, if you wish to
purchase a home computer, Epic offers you
interest-free loans.
Accommodations We are housed
in a beautiful, modern building with large conference rooms,
fireplaces, and plenty of artwork. For snacking, coffee, tea, cocoa,
milk, fruit juice, mineral water, and microwave popcorn are
available at no cost. At lunchtime, we pay the delivery charges for
your orders from area restaurants. And don't forget that Epic
welcomes pets on the weekends.
Casual Dress
Epic believes you are most productive when you work in comfortable
clothes. It is your choice whether you define
"comfortable" as jeans and sandals or a business suit.
Social Gatherings
We offer many social activities, including our annual anniversary
dinner and our company picnic. On Valentine's Day and your birthday,
you'll receive fine chocolates from local confectioneries. We also
give you opportunities to dress up for our Halloween contest and
enter our annual Choca-holic Challenge, and you can even help us
honor Pi at our Pi(e) Party on March 14th at - you guessed it - 1:59
PM. Epic also sponsors a variety of sports teams.
