Managing Pharmacist (Therapeutic Resource Center)

Description of position: Medco, www.medco.com, a leading pharmacy benefits manager with the nation’s largest mail order pharmacy operations, assists its customers to moderate the cost and enhance the quality of prescription drug benefits provided to members nationwide. Its customers include private and public-sector employers and healthcare organizations, including about 190 of the Fortune 500 companies. Medco is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol MHS.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage clinical programs within the cardiovascular therapeutic area to ensure operational and performance metrics are achieved.
  • Manage daily operations (queue management, training, workflow, etc.).
  • Facilitate implementation of new programs and enhancements.
  • Coach, develop, recognize, counsel and train employees.
  • Conduct departmental and group meetings (5-minute meetings, quality meetings, etc.).
  • Facilitate problem solving.
  • Interact with other departments to achieve business goals.
  • Manage performance per Operating Plan.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Pharmacist with a valid practicing license in the state of Florida.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to train/coach employees.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Excellent quality and efficiency in current position.
  • Ability to motivate and to lead by example.
  • PC skills a plus (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Previous management and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and task orientation.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy operations a plus.
