Title Director of Pharmacy Position Overview The director of pharmacy is responsible for all drug storage and drug preparation in the hospital. The director of pharmacy ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services, meets all legal, accreditation and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the hospital. Responsibilities A. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective drug therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols. B. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. C. Integrates the department into the organizations primary functions. D. Maintains competency required for current job title/position. E. Perform staff pharmacist duties when needed. Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in state of employment. Three to five years hospital training or equivalent training; one to two years in a management position or equivalent training; trained in general use of pharmacy computer systems; previous clinical experience; and advanced degree (pharmacy or business) is desirable.
