Through our Health Service Support Contract, Calian professionals work in partnership with military healthcare teams at more than 30 Canadian Forces Bases across Canada.

Pharmacy Job Description:
Responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical support and services to authorized patients supported by the pharmacy department. Facilitate activities such as:

  • Receives, processes and dispenses prescriptions in accordance with CF policies.Ensures the appropriate drug therapy for patients.

  • Responds to inquiries from health care staff and patients on medications and/or drug administration and makes recommendations.

  • Participates in educational research projects/studies.Participates in medical rounds, and reviews/updates patient charts/CF2016.

  • Prescribes OTC products and Lab Tests as per the Delegated Medical Acts Policy.

  • Maintains medication and pharmacy inventory.

  • Provides medical supplies to all Units supported by the pharmacy department.

  • Enforces proper return/disposal of pharmaceuticals and medical materiel IAW with regulations.

  • Maintains current catalogues and other reference material for the Pharmacy library.

  • Maintains building security procedures to ensure Narcotic and Controlled drugs are always secured.

  • Performs user's maintenance on pharmacy equipment and loaners kept in pharmacy stores.

  • Develops and enforces orders, plans and instructions concerning pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

  • Supervises the work of the pharmacy department personnel.

  • Ensures pharmacy funding is requested and funds received are well managed.Reviews and resolves patient complaints.

  • Assesses pharmaceutical care and medical supply services provided by non-medical units or non-CF facilities.

  • Assumes full responsibility for running the pharmacy when the senior pharmacist is not present (if applicable).

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Pharmacists must hold a valid license from one of the Canadian Provinces and provide evidence of good standing in that province.

  • Familiar with a collaborative treatment approach to patient care and be willing to embrace it.

  • Excellent personnel management skills, financial accounting skills, basic computer literacy with MS Office and MS Windows software.

  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
