career paths. But it's up to you to take advantage of them.
When it comes to filling
drug orders, there is no room for error. Air Force personnel depend on
their Pharmacist to ensure that they are receiving exactly what the doctor
ordered. In this specialty, you will be responsible for administering the
pharmacy department. As part of your job, you will act as a consultant on
drugs to the medical staff and act as supervisor for procuring, storing,
manufacturing, distributing, controlling and evaluating drugs. You will
also train health personnel in pharmacy matters and perform a variety of
research activities.
Salary
As an
Air Force officer, your pay is commensurate with rank,
time-in-service and yearly cost-of-living increases. In addition to your
basic military pay, you are eligible for housing and food allowances that
are tax-free. Pharmacists may be eligible for special pay rates and
generous sign on bonuses.
Vacation
30 days of vacation with pay each
year.
Retirement
You will be able to retire with as little as 20 years of service with the
Air
Force. And guess what – the Air Force requires no
payroll deductions for its retirement plan. That is one of the earliest
retirements around.
Insurance
The
Air Force offers excellent benefits and competitive
insurance rates. You'll receive comprehensive medical and dental care. In
addition, you'll receive full pay and allowances for any sick days you may
need to take. Plus we offer low-cost life insurance up to $250,000 for
only $20 a month. Family members may receive medical care at military or
civilian facilities through various options for little or no cost.
Housing Allowance
Living expenses, including utilities and maintenance, are covered for
Air
Force members who choose to live in on-base housing/apartments. A
monthly tax-free housing allowance is provided for off-base residents
based on rank and geographic location to help pay for those extra living
expenses.
Food Allowance
Officers receive a flat monthly food allowance, and can also save by
shopping at the tax-free, on-base department and grocery stores.
Travel
Free travel on available Air Force aircraft and reduced rates on travel,
shopping, entertainment and more.
